Olivari has been making door handles in Italy since 1911, at its own factories in Borgomanero where the entire production process takes place. It is the Italian name architects specify when the hardware is meant to be part of the architecture rather than an accessory to it.

The catalogue runs to more than a hundred handles, spanning historic pieces, long running bestsellers and new work signed by some of the best known architects and designers in the world. Philippe Starck, Snohetta, Arik Levy and Daniel Libeskind have all designed for Olivari, and pieces by Gio Ponti remain in production decades on.

How the range is organised

Square handles take their character from the square form of the rosettes, escutcheons and plates, with a linear geometry through the lever itself. The cleanest fit for contemporary joinery and flat panelled doors.

Round handles use round rosettes and escutcheons, with far more variation in the shape of the lever. The broadest of the three series and the usual starting point for a residential project.

Beyond levers

The range is deeper than handles. Door knobs in central and offset formats, flush handles for cavity and pocket doors, pull handles, door stops, escutcheons, window hardware and armoured door components. Olivari also makes a hospitality range for hotel doors.

That depth matters on a specified project. A single Olivari design can carry the entry, the internal doors, the cavity sliders and the window hardware without a change of language anywhere.

Finishes

Brass, chrome and satin nickel sit at the centre of the range, with the full finish offer varying by handle. Guilloche engraving is available on selected pieces, which is where Olivari separates itself from anything made at volume.

Finish availability is handle specific rather than universal, so confirm it per product before you specify.

Worth knowing before you specify

This is a made to order Italian range. Lead times reflect that, and they are longer than most of what we carry. If Olivari is on the drawings, get it onto the schedule early rather than at fitout, and we will confirm timing on every line in writing.
